Sonnet-ish for Eva on the Occasion of her School Music Show
Nobody else has a smile like that,
bright, like sunshine.
Your little arms are chubby again,
like when you were a baby,
and I know it means you’re going to grow.
Because I know you.
Inside and out, your smell, like sweat and sweetness.
The ways you play and prance,
your voice, always a little song.
Your dress, with flowers red, green, blue,
your yellow hair.
I used to wonder who you’re going to be,
but I don’t now.
